Lock Object Position in PowerPoint – (New Feature in Insider Program)

When working with PowerPoint, I often found myself unintentionally select or move the elements which are meant to stick at their positions. I’m sure many PowerPoint designers can relate to this as I can see many posts on the internet asking how to lock objects in PowerPoint.

Just weeks ago I’ve stumbled upon this ‘Lock’ feature when right clicking on a shape. It’s also available through the Selection Pane.

As of the date I’m writing, this feature seems to be available to only accounts that joined the Insider Program. My account is on the Current Channel (Preview). Another account of mine which hasn’t joined the Insider Program does not provide this feature.

This is certainly another handy feature for PowerPoint designers – not sure when it will get rolled out to all Microsoft 365 subscribers though – I’ve checked What’s new for Office Insiders page and haven’t seen this Lock feature mentioned anywhere.
